History of Troop 36

Boy Scout Troop 36 was originally chartered to Adat Ari El Synagogue in Valley Village and later moved it's charter to Temple Beth Hillel, also in Valley Village in 2001. A relatively young troop in comparison to others in Cahuenga District, Troop 36 has nevertheless already produced numerous Eagle Scouts. The Troop participates in Cahuenga District activities, including Camporee, where they won the coveted Spirit Stick in 2005. We are involved in District activities such as sponsoring the Fall Merit Badge Midway.

Troop Focus

The troop focuses on leadership skills for its Scouts as well as character development, citizenship training and physical fitness. Through its programming, the Troop provides "fun with a purpose." The varied program includes everything from day hikes, to weekend camping, to long term canoe trips, to weeks at summer camp, long term backpacking trips and even representation at such national events as the National Order of the Arrow Conference, National Scout Jamboree and World Scout Jamboree. Advancement is key, but so is youth leadership.

Troop Organization and Operation

Our Troop is one where the elected Boy Scout leaders actually run the meetings and plan their activities for the year with the guidance and oversight of the adult leaders. We have found that there is nothing like hands on leading to teach leadership skills.
